Summer camp is almost here! The summer coordinators have been busy training on our new high ropes course, mulching low ropes, practicing worship songs, and so much more! This past week we all began living on property and had the chance to take a special “outing” to go backpacking on the Appalachian Trail! We had Book Club at our campsite, learned about backpacking stoves, and got to star gaze at Dragon’s Tooth. Today the first of our counselors began arriving, and Staff Training will officially start this coming Wednesday June 17th!
Everyone here is working hard towards our goal of hitting 200 campers. With about 140 registered, we are 60 shy of our goal! Taylor, Jonathan, Likeith, and I have all been out in our district churches these past two weekends promoting camp and recruiting campers! If you know a child who could benefit from summer camp, tell them to sign up soon. Spots are filling up fast!
With a summer staff of 21 and 5 CITs (we’re still looking for a 6th!), the summer of 2015 is going to be one of the best Alta Mons summers yet. Every summer here is special, but this one will be one to remember for a long time. With lots of surprises, a brand new high ropes course, and it being my last year on summer staff, I know that this year will impact the lives of many. We appreciate all the thoughts and prayers that the Alta Mons community sends us, from near and far away. To all the past summer staff out there reading this, thanks for making camp what it is today. I wouldn’t be the person and the leader that I am without all of you. Especially Matt Lipscomb and Sarah Kate Gravely—you guys paved the way for me and have taught me so much about camp and life. I love you both so much!
Thanks for all the support and love. Here’s to a summer we’ll remember forever!
