WHAT IS WINTER CAMP?
Open to current 2nd - 12th graders | December 17-19 | $120 (standard rate)/$170 (supporters rate)
S’mores over a campfire, hikes to the (potentially frozen) waterfall, starry nights, and camp friends are all waiting for you at winter camp. We’ll be incorporating the highlights of summer camp along with fun Christmas activities (decorating cookies, making ornaments, other fun surprises!) to make winter camp full of memories, laughter, and community. You don’t want to miss out, so register today! Everyone will receive a Winter Camp long sleeve t-shirt with the theme graphics as part of their registration fee.
Camper Check-in will begin at 4 PM on December 17th and Camper Check-out will begin at 3 PM on December 19th. Exact times will be staggered as part of our COVID-19 policies. You will receive your exact time in your confirmation packet.

COVID-19 & WINTER CAMP 2021
A HEALTHY CAMP STARTS WITH A HEALTHY HOME
Before bringing your child to camp, consider the health and safety of everyone involved and make safe choices! Limit travel, exposure to others, and indoor activities as much as possible. For more information on COVID-19 precautions, visit: https://www.vdh.virginia.gov/coronavirus/schools-workplaces-community-locations/
PRE-ARRIVAL COVID TEST OR 7 DAY SYMPTOM LOG OF ALL HOUSEHOLD MEMBERS
To help prevent the spread of COVID-19 within the camp community we are requiring ONE of these for all Winter Campers: a copy of your camper's vaccination card, a negative molecular test within 7 days of camper arrival OR a 7-day symptom screening of ALL household members. It is our strong preference that campers arrive at camp fully vaccinated (if possible) or with a negative molecular test. However, we realize this may not be possible for all campers, so we are also accepting a 7-day symptom screening of all household members. It is recommended by the CDC that if a camper has tested positive for COVID-19 in the 3 months before the first day of camp that they do NOT take a molecular test as there is a chance they could still test positive. We suggest the 7-day symptom screening for campers in this situation.

MASKS & DISTANCING
Campers and Staff will wear masks anytime inside, when outside and a 6-foot physical distance cannot be maintained from individuals not in their unit outside, and when other units and/or non-counseling staff are present. Campers will not need to wear masks when inside their lodging facilities or around just their unit members while outside. We are structuring camp so that units will spend most of their time alone and campers will not need to wear masks most of the time.
DAILY HEALTH CHECKS
Campers and Staff will be screened daily for symptoms, temperature, and any other health concerns. Symptoms include: fever (checking for temperature 100.4 °F or higher), sore throat, new cough, diarrhea, vomiting, or stomachache, new onset of severe headache, especially with a fever.
MEALS & DINING
Units will be eating all of their meals in their assigned lodging facility (Pearman House, Carter Cottage, Cedar View, or Mountain View) with the exception of campers staying in the Burrows Retreat Center. Those campers (Units 1 and 2) will be eating on opposite sides of the Dining Hall. This dispersed style of eating will allow all campers to eat in heated spaces while separate from other units/groups.
REVISED REFUND POLICY
Pre-arrival cancellations for any reason will be fully refunded. Please contact us as soon as possible at 540-268-2409 or office@altamons.org to cancel your child's winter camp registration and allow someone else to fill the spot. For Winter Camp, no refunds will be issued once the session begins.
