What is Alta Mons?
Alta Mons is the outdoor ministry of the Valley Ridge District of the United Methodist Church. We are open year round, providing space for others to experience God through our outdoor ministry. We have summer camp and other programs throughout the year for children of all ages, as well as facilities available to rent for family reunions, retreats, or small group meetings. Alta Mons has several challenge courses and a pool available to rent as well. We are a place for people of all ages, nationalities, and backgrounds to come for a retreat with God.

The Valley Ridge District of the UMC
The Valley Ridge District connects members of 143 United Methodist Churches in Alleghany, Augusta, Bath, Bedford, Botetourt, Craig, Floyd, Franklin, Giles, Highland, Montgomery, Roanoke, Rockbridge, and Rockingham Counties and the cities and towns of Buena Vista, Clifton Forge, Covington, Lexington, Roanoke, Salem, Staunton, and Waynesboro with the Virginia Annual Conference, the United Methodist Church, and the World in ministry to others on behalf of Christ.

The clergy and laity of the Valley Ridge District are supervised by a Conference appointed District Superintendent. The Virginia Conference is composed of 8 districts serving over 1,200 local United Methodist congregations across most of the Commonwealth of Virginia.
