Fall here at Alta Mons has been both beautiful & busy! The flood came through on September 29th and destroyed 2 of our bridges across Purgatory Creek. The bridge by The Hut and the bridge built by "the boys of summer staff" that connected the low ropes elements to the Back 400 have both been washed away! We are looking for hard working volunteers to rebuild these over the winter / early spring; in time for next summer! We also have several other work projects that would make great Eagle Scout / Gold Award projects or church group work. For a complete list of projects or to volunteer to help, please give our office a call at 540-268-2409.
Winter Camp is just around the corner! December 18-20 summer staff & past campers will be reuniting for a weekend of winter fun, crafts, games, and worship centered around our theme, “For God So Loved The World.” Winter Camp is open to campers currently in grades 2nd through 12th, so if you know a child that fits into this age bracket, please encourage them to register for Winter Camp! Campers will be sleeping in our fully heated Burrows Retreat Center on real beds with mattresses (Gasp! Could it be true?!) so no need to worry about your camper being chilly! With many great activities planned, you don’t want to miss out on this Alta Mons experience! For more information or to sign up today (registration is available ONLINE), check out our website at: http://www.altamons.org/winter-camp
It’s hard to believe, but summer camp season is just around the corner! I’ve already started interviewing summer staff and we have already received 4 applications for next summer! We need lots of hard-working high school & college aged students to help run camp, so please encourage people to apply today! More information is available at: http://www.altamons.org/summer-staff
Also, GET EXCITED because on January 1, 2016 I will announce our 2016 SUMMER CAMP THEME! This year’s theme will yet again be written by Sarah Kate, and it promises to be one of the best yet!
Thanks to everyone who came out the Alta Mons Annual Meeting this past Sunday—it was great to see so many people interested! We truly appreciate your support.
I hope everyone is staying warm & getting excited for the holidays!
Yours in Christ,
Meredith Simmons
