Exciting changes are happening at Alta Mons! Since I began working as Program Coordinator, I've learned so much about the behind the scenes of how to run a non-profit camping and retreat center! After all the contracts I've booked, phone calls I've taken, and trash I've picked up, I'm still just as excited as I was back in August!
The newest piece of excitement around Alta Mons isn't on the campus at all; it's just down the road.
As a camper, I can remember riding past the fields and cows in my parents van to Alta Mons. I was always excited and almost always nervous! Alta Mons was where I made many a new friend, and I still have four ceder name badges to prove it! On the way to summer camp we used to pass old chicken coupes in a field by the road. My father would always jokingly point to the chicken coupes and tell my sister and me that those were going to be our cabins for the week! We would squeal and laugh, but deep down I always wondered.
The road to Alta Mons brings many memories to mind for all of our parents and campers. In 2013, when parents are driving their campers to Alta Mons once again, they'll be met with a new 2-lane bridge just down the road from the campground on Allegheny Springs Road. The bridge has been a long awaited addition to members of the community!
So as you all pile in for Summer 2013, don't worry about getting backed up at the old bridge! I'm sure our RV Friends will appreciate the new addition as well!
Hope to see you all soon!
Come by and visit us any time!
