What’s up, everybody! My name is Dylan Casciano and I am very excited to say that I’ll be the Ropes Coordinator at camp this summer! As the Ropes Coordinator, I’ll be hanging out at the high ropes course and helping kids tackle their fear of heights and encouraging the campers to get out on the ropes and have an amazing time. I'll be a role model and example for the campers to follow, I'll get to assist the camp and other counselors in any way possible, and of course keep everyone safe.
A little something to know about me is that I love the outdoors. If I’m not at the river whitewater kayaking or rafting, you can find me mountain biking, hiking, camping, climbing, or laying in the sun somewhere. I’m graduating from Virginia Tech this May with a degree in Environmental Resource Management and a minor in Forestry which I chose to study so I can help care for the earth and spend as much time as possible outside.
Loving and being a part of the outdoors is the greatest, but it’s important to keep in mind to be considerate of other visitors in an area, a Leave No Trace principle I strongly believe in. When camping out after a long day running some whitewater, it is important to be respectful to the other campers in the area. That includes staying quiet after quiet hours, picking up all trash after you leave, completely extinguishing fires, and being mindful of other visitors’ space. No one wants to come to a campsite and see cans, plastic bags, and old food thrown across the campsite, so keeping true to this LNT principle is important for everyone.
I can’t wait for this summer! It’s going to be the best one yet.
Yours in Adventure,
Dylan Casciano
