Hey y’all! My name is Billy Ferguson and I have the honor of being Media Coordinator for this summer. I have been a counselor for the past two years, and I am looking forward to finally being a coordinator at Alta Mons.
Alta Mons has become an important part of my college experience because I go to George Mason University which is located in Fairfax, Virginia where there are lines of traffic and blaring car horns almost constantly present. Alta Mons is the perfect place to escape the bustle of Northern Virginia. Camp is where I find much needed balance.
At GMU, I am a Film and Video Studies major. The program gives me many opportunities to gain experience on films sets and producing my own content. For example at my internship at the City of Fairfax’s Communications & Marketing Department, I go out and produce short documentaries on the citizens of Fairfax. My supervisor always says “our city has 26,000 people that means 26,000 stories.” I take this to heart and will apply it this summer at camp.
Because of camp I have developed a new found love of music. The music that come from a guitar late at night around a fire is the best kind of music. I have heard the grace of God through the chords and notes of a six string. I must say the closest I have felt to God was in the Back 400 while Sanctuary played in the background. This was a single moment among so many memories that I have made at Alta Mons and will cherish forever.
Alta Mons is such a sacred place to me.
Yours in cinematic summer camp love,
Billy Ferguson
