Hey y'all! As summer sadly comes to a close, I hope that everyone is enjoying the last little bit. Here at Alta Mons, we are busy busy busy preparing for all sorts of fun things! Winter Camp is just around the corner (December 18-20) so I've been writing the theme and trying to make online registration happen! Philip Crowther, one of our counselors from this past summer, is doing all of our graphic design work! Be looking for materials in the mail and on the website soon, around October 1st!
Sarah Kate Gravely (my former boss and one of my best friends) is busy writing our 2016 Summer Camp theme! As always, her ideas are amazing and I know she will follow up "Can You Hear Me?," "Keys to the Kingdom," and "Beautiful Creation" with another great theme to add to the collection.
Summer Staff will be visiting the United Methodist Home, Hermitage, on October 21st! We'll be singing songs, both silly and serious, and spending some time with the residents. If you're interested in joining, feel free! We will meet at Hermitage at 6:30 PM that day. We are also looking to visit the kids at the Community Outreach Program (COP) this fall semester as well. If you have any other ideas for Summer Staff service work, e-mail me at office@altamons.org to let me know. I love to plan camp reunions and serve the community!
Additionally, as our "busy season" winds down and I have more "free time," I've committed myself to "Relational Ministry Wednesdays." What this means is that every Wednesday from now until probably May, I'm trying to intentionally spend time with people who will help grow the Alta Mons ministry. This coming Wednesday, I'll be spending some time with Barry LeNoir, Camp Bethel's Director and former Alta Mons Program Coordinator. If you have ideas for people I should be hanging out with, let me know! I have a whiteboard in my office where I'm scheduling out my time, so make sure I'm using it wisely. I love community feedback and suggestions.
In the meantime, keep promoting Alta Mons! Tell people about the hike to the falls, renting our high and low ropes courses, and coming here for retreats! In order for Alta Mons to grow, we need everyone's help-- and if you've read this far in my blog, you must love Alta Mons!
Have a wonderful day & come visit soon!
Yours in Christ,
Meredith Simmons
