ALTA MONS SUMMER CAMP 2023 COVID-19 INFORMATION
This page contains the most up to date information about your COVID-19 protocols for Summer Camp 2023. If you have specific questions, please feel free to ask! We are here to help. Contact our office at 540-268-2409 or office@altamons.org.
A HEALTHY CAMP STARTS WITH A HEALTHY HOME
Before bringing your child to camp, consider the health and safety of everyone involved and make safe choices! Limit travel, exposure to others, and indoor activities as much as possible. PRE-ARRIVAL COVID TEST or 7 day symptom log of all household members
To help prevent the spread of COVID-19 within the camp community we are requiring ONE of these for overnight campers: COVID vaccination dates (submitted with your camper's registration form), a negative COVID test taken within 3 days of camper arrival OR a 7-day symptom screening of ALL household members. It is our strong preference that campers arrive at camp with up-to-date COVID vaccines (primary series and booster received) or with a negative test. However, we realize this may not be possible for all campers, so we are also accepting a 7-day symptom screening of all household members. It is recommended by the CDC that if a camper has tested positive for COVID-19 in the 3 months before the first day of camp they do NOT take a molecular/PCR test as there is a chance they could still test positive. We suggest the 7-day symptom screening for campers in this situation.

DRIVE THRU CHECK-IN
To limit our contact with other individuals and to streamline the process, check-in will again happen "drive thru style" at Shelter 3 this year. You will simply drive thru the shelter and staff members will assist you while you remain in your car. At the last station, your child and their luggage will exit the vehicle and you will say goodbye. Families will be assigned a specific arrival time based on the camp program they have registered for in order to avoid a back up of cars. You will be able to make purchases from the camp store at this time. Elementary Resident Camp and Mini Camp check-in will begin at 4:00 PM on the Sunday of your scheduled session. All Junior & Senior High Camps will begin check-in at 4:30 PM on the Sunday of your scheduled session. For families with multiple children, the earlier time is the check-in time for your entire family. Day Camp drop off is from 8:30 AM to 9:00 AM daily at Shelter 3. In the event of inclement weather, check-in will take place at the Dining Hall.
FACE MASKS
Masking during Summer Camp will be optional for all campers unless the Virginia Department of Health changes its masking requirements. As part of their packing list, campers are asked to bring face masks to camp. Any campers who are symptomatic during camp will be asked to wear a face mask while on-site at camp waiting to return home. Masks should be well-fitted, comfortable, and worn over the nose and under the chin.
DAILY HEALTH CHECKS
Campers and Staff will be screened daily for symptoms, temperature, and any other health concerns. Symptoms include: fever (checking for temperature 100.4 °F or higher), sore throat, new cough, diarrhea, vomiting, or stomachache, new onset of severe headache, especially with a fever.
drive thru check-out
Camper check-out will occur in a similar fashion to check-in and will be located near the Dining Hall. This will be a drive thru style check-out. Elementary Resident Camp check-out will begin at 4:00 PM on the Friday of your scheduled session. All Junior & Senior High Camps will begin check-out at 4:30 PM on the Friday of your scheduled session. For families with multiple children, the earlier time is the check-out time for your entire family. Day Camp check-out starts daily at 4:00 PM at Shelter 3, with 4:30 PM being the latest pick-up time. On Friday, Day Camp check-out will happen at the Dining Hall in conjunction with resident camp check-out.
