ALTA MONS SUMMER CAMP 2021 COVID-19 INFORMATION
Summer Camp at Alta Mons will look slightly different this summer. Masks, distancing, and a continued focus on small groups. Our program will be guided by the American Camp Association Field Guide for Summer Camp Operations, Guidelines from Governor Northam, and CDC Best Practices. If you have specific questions, please feel free to ask! We are here to help. Contact our office at 540-268-2409 or email@example.com.
PRE-ARRIVAL COVID TEST
To help prevent the spread of COVID-19 within the camp community and to be in alignment with Governor Northam's orders, we are requiring a pre-arrival COVID test for all overnight campers. For help finding a testing location near you, please visit: https://www.vdh.virginia.gov/coronavirus/covid-19-testing/covid-19-testing-sites/
DRIVE THRU CHECK-IN
To limit our contact with other individuals, check-in will happen "drive thru style" at Shelter 3 this year. It should be fun and easy! You will simply drive thru the shelter and staff members will assist you while you remain in your car. At the last station, your child and their luggage will exit the vehicle and you will say goodbye. Families will be assigned a specific arrival time in order to avoid a back up of cars. You will be able to make purchases from the camp store at this time.
MASKS & DISTANCING
Campers and Staff will wear masks when inside, when a 6 foot physical distance cannot be maintained outside, and when other groups and/or non-counseling staff are present. Campers will not need to wear masks when inside their cabins or around just their unit members while outside.
Cleaning procedures will reflect guidelines provided by the American Camping Association, CDC and the Forward Virginia guidelines for safe opening of summer camps. These procedures will be used heavily throughout camp especially focusing on shared spaces and high touch surfaces.
DAILY HEALTH CHECKS
Campers and Staff will be screened daily for symptoms, temperature, and any other health concerns.
MEALS & dINING
Perhaps the biggest change to our program is that we will not be eating in the Dining Hall this year (except in the case of severe weather.) Meals will be delivered by our Cookout Coordinator to units at individual picnic shelters and consumed there. Counselors will serve campers and each unit will be given an "options box" for picky eaters.
drive thru check-out
Just like on Sunday, on Friday you will drive thru Shelter 3 to pick up your child and their luggage. Families will be assigned a specific arrival time in order to avoid a back up of cars. You will be able to make purchases from the camp store at this time.
REVISED REFUND POLICY
Pre-arrival cancellations for any reason will be fully refunded. Please contact us as soon as possible at 540-268-2409 or firstname.lastname@example.org to cancel your child's summer camp registration to allow someone else to fill the spot. For week long residential camp: If a camper is sent home during the week due to a COVID-19 related concern, a full refund will be issued if the decision is made before Tuesday dinner. For campers sent home after Tuesday dinner due to a COVID-19 related concern no refund will be made. Campers sent home at any point during the week for behavior, homesickness, etc. will receive no refund of any amount. For Mini and Day Camp, no refunds will be issued once the session begins.
