It takes a large amount of effort to keep Alta Mons looking as beautiful and running as smoothly as it does. Most of our volunteers serve for up to 4 hours at a time. We provide training and orientation to each area of service.
Kitchen Assistance:
1 – Food Preparation: assist the kitchen staff with minor food preparation
needs, assist in dish washing, preparing drinks and other duties as needed.
Food Preparation volunteers operate under the supervision of the head cook.
An orientation to the kitchen and safe food handling is provided.
2- Meal Host: assist in preparing the dining area ahead of meal service including
laying table cloth, set place settings, putting out drinks. During the meal
be available to answer questions, take requests to the kitchen, refill drinks
as needed. Assist with clean up of the dining hall post meal.
*these roles are sometimes combined depending on need.
Grounds Assistance
Help mow some of the field space around Alta Mons. Orientation to mowers will
be provided.
Weed eating: clean up some of the areas of camp by weed eating as directed.
Moving mulch: (preferably groups) help refill the mulch trails around camp.
Office Assistance
Includes: answering phones, taking RV bookings, basic group booking information,
meeting and greeting visitors, print/fold/staple brochures, restock brochures,
organize mail outs etc. Orientation and training provided.
Housekeeping
Assist housekeeping staff around camp. Tasks include: sweeping, mopping, dusting,
folding sheets/towels, vacuuming etc. and other tasks as needed.
Activity Assistance:
Storytellers, Nature, Craft support.
Group Development and Teambuilding facilitators
Activity assistants: set up campfires
(smores), assist groups with needs, set out games and activities, pump balls,
clean equipment.
Wagon Driver: be added to a call list to run wagon rides around Alta Mons. Training
will be given on tractor driver and route of ride.
Special Skills
There are needs and projects for those with special skills. If you have a skill
you think Alta Mons would benefit from, please let us know for example IT skills
and web-development, construction work, woodwork, welding, electrician, HVAC,
Plumbing, Carpentry, Pruning, Landscaping etc. Even if your skill is not listed,
we may still be in need of it!
